New Step Ahead is a 3-level English course for Lower Secondary School students. It runs from Beginner to Intermediate standard from Level A1-B1 of the Common European Framework. This is the new revised edition by Claire Moore and Elizabeth Lee.

Each volume of the Student's Book contains 10 Units divided into modules: Grammar, Steps to Communication and Skills. The course includes imaginative and appealing topics to engage teenagers' interests as they learn and use English. Each module ends with a Culture Site, a Spot Check to assess progress, and Exam Practice to help prepare students for KET and Trinity exams and a Final Check containing fun, revision-style tasks.

The workbook runs alongside the student's book and also contains a grammar section at the back with summaries of all the grammar topics dealt with and a minidictionary presenting all of the lexis from the Student's Book in alphabetical order. The portfolio is divided into the following sections: Passport, Language Biography and Dossier. It encourages self-evaluation and helps organise study during the three years of education.

Each teacher's book comes with 2 class audio CD's, an introduction to the methodology of the course, check lists for self-evaluation, syllabus planning for each module with answer keys, teaching ideas, cultural information, extra games and activities, pairwork tasks for role-play and the workbook answer key. The Test Books contain entry tests, an end of Unit revision test, an end of module revision test and 5 final tests covering the skills required in external examinations.
